Contemporary African fashion continues to evolve, and one of the emerging brands contributing to this evolution is Mhenase Touch. We had a conversation with the mind behind the brand.
She recently obtained a Master’s degree in Fashion Design and has been designing for eleven years, steadily building her voice within contemporary womenswear.
“A woman’s outfit is a confidence rebellion,” she says, “and Obìrin is a celebration of womanhood in all its forms.” The word Obìrin itself is the Yoruba word for woman. This spirit of rebellion is reflected in the colour hues, symmetry, and silhouettes seen in the detailed dress jackets paired with plain strapless dresses throughout the collection.
Speaking about her inspiration, she says, “Women have come a long way in this world and I make dreams for them.” Her latest collection was recently showcased at the University of Salford RAK Exhibition fashion show in Marrakesh, Morocco, as well as during London Fashion Week, among other presentations.
