Kim Jones set to be Fendi’s new artistic director

Darcey Sergison looks at Fendi’s latest addition to their team.

Kim Jones is an excellent choice for Fendi’s new artistic director. The English designer’s new role will encompass haute couture, ready-to-wear, and fur collections.

Already working for Dior’s Men’s, Jones will now have a crucial trend setting position within LVMH. Being the artistic director of Fendi and Dior is a huge privilege that many designers could only dream of, but Jones will be sure to take this new position in his stride.

Jones will be taking on this prestigious role following in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld had been the father of fashion at Fendi since 1965, creating womenwear collections which inspired many trends over the past decades, and will be sure to inspire Jones in his newest work.

With uncertainty filling the position of Lagerfeld’s successor, Jones will be a great addition to the fashion house. The Chief Executive of LVMH, Bernard Arnault, has released the following statement: “Kim Jones is a great talent and since joining, he has continuously proven his ability to adapt to the codes and heritage of the LVMH houses while revisiting them with great modernity and audacity. At Fendi, I am convinced that his vision and passion will highly contribute to the success of the women’s collections.”

Jone’s released a statement expressing his joy at this new opportunity. He said:“I would like to profoundly thank Monsieur Arnault, Pietro Beccari, Serge Brunschwig and Silvia Venturini Fendi for this incredible opportunity. Working across two such prestigious houses is a true honour as a designer and to be able to join the house of FENDI as well as continuing my work at Dior Men’s is a huge privilege.”
