I can’t stop thinking about Emma Corrin’s goldfish dress

By Nell Richmond-Tanner

Emma Corrin and stylist Harry Lambert have done it again with their look for My Policeman premiere which is equal parts whimsical, high-camp and couture.

The actor first rose to fame with their sensitive portrayal of Princess Diana on The Crown provoking another wave of obsession with the late Princess (I now love an ‘Ar Di’ meme as much as the next person and cry at fancam TikToks of Diana). Since then, Corrin has been involved in some of the buzziest projects of 2022, including My Policeman and the newest adaptation of Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

Acting credentials aside, Corrin also captures the spotlight due to their subversive style and willingness to embrace the weird and wonderful on the red carpet. We can’t forget the LEOWE boob dress paired with a balloon bra or the cream Miu-Miu ensemble complete with a matching swimming cap. Emma’s stylist Harry Lambert clearly understands the actor’s personal tastes and knows how to create looks that are both utterly silly, beautiful and meaningful, simultaneously. Every time Emma attends an event, it is their look everyone is talking about and the My Policeman premiere is no exception.

The J.W. Anderson goldfish dress had just been presented by the designer in Anderson’s SS23 show and was a perfect choice for the event given the subject of the film. My Policeman depicts two men being in love at a time when it was still illegal to be gay, therefore although the dress is a lot of fun, the garment also evokes a more sinister message of feeling trapped and having little room to express oneself fully.

It might be because I am a sucker for a period drama, but I am looking forward to what Corrin does next, on the big screen and the red carpet. I am obsessed and you should be too!
