With modern life being so crazy and hectic, it can be tough to get some time with your girlfriends. Spending time with women you love, value and laugh with is important for your wellbeing.

One of the best ways, once you get everyone’s calendars aligned, is to book a holiday together. Here are some tips on booking the best summer break full of memories and quality time.

Choose the right destination and vibe

Before you can pack your suitcase, you will need to set a destination that everyone will like. It can be hard balancing several personalities and preferences, so start by each writing down some ideas. You can see if anywhere is a popular choice, or at least decide on a vibe.

If culture and cocktails are your thing, Rome holidays are ideal for a weekend break with short flight times and easy city access. For a beach weekend, why not head to the Spanish coast? Soak up the sun and relax as you chat and laugh with your friends.

Budgeting, booking and beating the cost of living squeeze

Next, focus on budgets. Be mindful that some may have more fun money than others, especially with the economy the way it is.

Set a realistic budget that everyone is on board with. This helps to avoid unease and conflict later down the line. You can see how much flights and accommodation cost roughly for your chosen destination and work from there.

Try to be open-minded and see if there are alternative solutions if prices are a bit high. You could travel from a different airport, or look at self-catered villas rather than all-inclusive resorts. Remember to check flights for different departure dates. If you can, avoid school holidays as prices will drop drastically.

Safety, insurance and staying informed

Keep on top of any updates from the Foreign Office. You will be able to find out if there are any safety risks or weather issues before you travel.

Make sure every person in your travelling party has travel insurance. Policies can be relatively cheap but will save you a financial headache should you get ill or have an accident. You may also be able to claim if your luggage is lost or flights are changed and delayed.

Take some time to look up the local emergency numbers. It is also worth learning a few words in the local language, such as “hospital” and “police”, as well as a few pleasantries.

Planning activities that everyone will love

Relaxing is usually the main aim of a girls’ trip, but you may want to book in some activities as well. Try to balance big nights out with meaningful experiences.

You could embark on a local food tour, wellness sessions or something creative like a pottery class. These will create the precious memories you want from a trip away with your friends.

If you are after something a bit more exciting, why not try an extreme sport? Doing a bungee jump or skydive somewhere beautiful will be a bonding moment in your friendships as well as an exhilarating experience for all who are brave enough.
