Ruth Croft tells you all you need to know about the 2021 Fashion Awards, and how you can get involved in the highly anticipated event.
As the nights draw in and the UK gets a little bit colder, all we need is glitz and glamour to remind us that the fashion season is not yet over. Last month, London Fashion Week took the capital by storm, but don’t worry if you didn’t get the opportunity to see any of the shows. There is still time to appreciate the artistry we’ve seen throughout the last year, and there isn’t a better event to showcase this than the 2021 Fashion Awards.
The illustrious event will be taking place on Monday the 29th of November, in London’s Royal Albert Hall, where the British Fashion Council (BFC) will be celebrating a magnificent year in fashion. The previous ceremony was made virtual by restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning that this event is being regarded with even more excitement and extreme anticipation. Over the past year, creators have been forced to completely rewrite their experience in working with fashion, revealing their designs through new and experimental methods. The industry has seen huge progression with working via digital media, and that is expected to be honoured this year, as well as celebrating their other creative approaches and desires for the future.
The BFC has confirmed that this year’s event will include awards for the designers, brands, and creatives who helped pioneer positive change in the fashion industry during its hardest time. The traditional accolades for Designer of the Year and the BFC Foundation Award will also be awarded.
We can hope to see some extremely exciting guests this year, with Tommy Hilfiger chosen to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award for his contribution to the global fashion industry. Past guests have included Lady Gaga, Zendaya, Rhianna, Stormzy, Karlie Kloss, Janet Jackson, Edward Enninful OBE, and Dame Anna Wintour.
Tickets are on sale for the general public, and are available to buy online at fashionawards.com.
