Florence Pugh Claps Back at Body Shamers

Florence Pugh, talented and beloved British actress well-known for roles in films such as Little Women and Midsommar, has had to clap back at internet bullies admonishing her for her choice of outfit at Valentino’s Haute Couture show in Rome.

The gown in question was a beautiful hot magenta. An entirely sheer full skirt just grazed the ground whilst still showing off incredible platform shoes in the same shade of pink. Her upper body was also clad in the same sheer material, with a slight racer neckline culminating in a feathery collar that brought attention to her simple, glowing, makeup look. The dress was striking because of its colour, shape and material, but much of the focus has been on Pugh’s decision to go braless, rendering her chest visible through the mesh.

Her nipples being visible is what many took issue with, there were some comments that simply saw it as inappropriate for the occasion, but some others body shamed her, commenting on the size and appearance of her chest. Florence shut down these heinous comments in the caption of her most recent Instagram post. Admonishing the brazenness of people’s commenting on her appearance using profiles that contained accurate personal information, Pugh called these bullies ‘scared’ of her breasts. She made the powerful and inspiring comment that ‘I’ve lived in my body for a long time. I’m fully aware of my breast size and am not scared of it.’ Citing growing up in a household of strong, curvy women as a stroke of luck for her own body image, Pugh ended the post with the apt and succinct hashtag #fuckingfreethefuckingnipple.
